Jeff Dowdy

Jeff and Amy currently serve in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Jeff is the assistant pastor of Comunidade Horizonte (the CO partner church). At the same time, both he and Amy focus on Member Care, regularly supporting the local staff and encouraging them in their work.

They have four children and one daughter-in-law. Braden and Aniah attended Wofford College, were married in 2023, and now serve with the CO LEAD program in Belo Horizonte. Simon is studying at Berry College ('25), where he captains the Ultimate Frisbee team and is on the leadership team for CO. Lucy is a freshman at Georgia College & State University (GCSU). Their youngest, Everett, is 14, living in Belo, and enjoys working out and serving in the children’s ministry.

Jeff and Amy first felt called to serve overseas after participating in a 1996 cross-cultural project in Bangkok, Thailand, while students at West Georgia. Their time there led them to missions and deepened their friendship, which blossomed into marriage in 1997. After graduating, they moved to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1999 to serve with Campus Outreach, working first on campus and later with graduates until 2007. After returning to the US, they continued seeking God’s will and in 2018 were invited back to Belo to lead a marriage retreat for the church. This experience confirmed their call, and they returned to Belo Horizonte in December 2020, continuing their ministry in a new capacity.
